Gateway Services, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that provides services to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.  We aim to provide supports tailored to individuals' choices in order for them to live the lives they dream of.  To that end, we will:

• Ensure that all individuals are healthy and safe.

• Support individuals to have real relationships with family and friends.

• Assist individuals to have a paying job if they want to work.

• Encourage individuals to make decisions about their lives.

• Facilitate opportunities for individuals to contribute to their community.

 

OUR HISTORY

 

Our humble beginnings started in 1970 in an abandoned schoolhouse in Malden, Illinois. Staffed with a crew of three, one program, and $35,000, Gateway Services was born. Currently Gateway has 7 programs, approximately 100 staff, 3 office buildings, a mechanic's garage, and 5 residential homes. We have seen many changes since the 1970s; however, we share a common goal of ensuring a high quality of life for everyone.
